Hurricane Irene

An upcoming category three hurricane that is set to hit the east coast of the US late afternoon on the 27th August 2011. Wind speeds are expected to hit 115 miles per hour with a likelihood of worsening.

President Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency in North Carolina, which is due to be the first state to be directly hit. It is expected that after traveling northwards, the hurricane will dissipate late in the night of the 28th August 2011.
