multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA)

MOBA is the genre of games that encompases the range of games that are based around team, skill based combat. Most MOBA games are third person and allow the player to acquire new skills mid-game through level-ups. The gameplay is also usually based on terratories and teams usually fight to destroy the opponant's tower, or at least controll more points than the opposing team at the end of the time limit, much like the land-grab gmaetype in Halo. Most MOBA games are also set with a 3rd person camera that allows the player a larger field of view than a first person camera. Also, while the player's character's level will reset each game, or each round, the items equipped to that character are usually permanent. The ranking systems in MOBA games, along with its heated competition, are also some of the strictest in gaming.

Famous MOBA titles include; DoTA 2, League of Legends, Happy Wars and Demigod.
