A model of a reservoir that incorporates all the characteristics of the reservoir that are pertinent to its ability to store hydrocarbons and also to produce them. Reservoir characterization models are used to simulate the behaviour of the fluids within the reservoir under different sets of circumstances and to find the optimal production techniques that will maximise the production.
