Calculus
remainder
Mathematics; Calculus
The number that is left over when one number is divided by another number. Numbers that can be divided evenly have a remainder of 0.
ratio
Mathematics; Calculus
A relationship between two numbers. If a box has six red marbles and four blue marbles, the ratio of red marbles to blue marbles is 6 to 4.
reciprocal
Mathematics; Calculus
Either of two numbers that equal 1 when they are multiplied together. The number 3 is the reciprocal of 1/3.
division
Mathematics; Calculus
The mathematical process of finding out how many times one number is contained in another number.
Taylor Polynomial
Mathematics; Calculus
An approximation of a function using terms from its Taylor series. An nth degree Taylor polynomial uses all the Taylor series terms up to and including the term using the nth derivative.
convergent sequence
Mathematics; Calculus
A sequence with a limit that is a real number. For example, the sequence 5.1, 5.01, 5.001, 5.0001, . . . has limit 5, so the sequence converges to 5. On the other hand, the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...
cartesian form
Mathematics; Calculus
A math function (or relation) written in the form of (x, y) or (x, y, z) coordinates.
