acid fast bacilli (AFB)

Acid Fast Bacilli (Ziehl-Neelson) AFB are stained pink/red. Counterstain is blue.

fite

Modified AFB stain. Acid is dilute so weakly acid fast organisms eg atypical mycobacteria can be stained - colors are same as in AFB stain.
