The 8 to 10 meter square area of the mat where the contest takes place. The entire mat is called the competition area and is 14 to 16 meters square.

corner judges

There are 2 corner judges and they are responsible for watching to see if the fighting is taking place inside or outside the contest area.

dan

A level or grade that indicates the holder has achieved the level of black belt. Then there are levels within a Dan. 1St, Dan 2nd Dan and so on. 10th Dan is the highest.
