A list of the most recent published contents that were shared by one’s friends on Facebook or by the groups, events and pages that one follows on this social media. Note: the list appears on the Facebook home page and is constantly updated as new content is shared. It is a useful function that provides users with a snapshot on the new contents that were published; thus, it saves them the burden of having to visit multiple pages in order to see the new posts. This feature is not specific to Facebook, many other social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn use it to display recent updates.
