Oregon, with a nickname "The Beaver State," is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located on the Pacific coast, with Washington to the north, California to the south, Nevada on the southeast and Idaho to the east. Salem is the state's capital and third-most-populous city; other major cities are Eugene, Gresham, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Medford, Bend, Springfield, and Corvallis. Oregon is the 33rd state of the U.S. and entered the Union on Feb. 14, 1859.
