Genetic engineering

The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Contributors in Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering

hypothalamic peptides

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Peptides generated in the vertebrate forebrain and concerned with regulating the body's physiological state.

sieve plate

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Perforated wall area in a sieve-tube element through which strands connecting sieve-tube protoplasts pass.

reduction division

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Phase of meiosis in which the maternal and paternal chromosomes of the bivalent separate.

discontinuous variation

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Phenotypic variation involving distinct classes, such as red versus white, tall versus dwarf.

secondary phloem

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Phloem tissue formed by the vascular cambium during secondary growth in a vascular plant.

net photosynthesis

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Photosynthetic activity minus respiratory activity, as measured by carbon dioxide exchange.

melanin

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

Pigment, as typically produced by specialised epidermal cells called melanocytes.
