Genetic engineering
The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Genetic engineering
northern blotting
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Similar to Southern blotting, except that RNA is transferred onto a matrix and the presence of a specific RNA molecule is detected by DNA-RNA hybridization.
parallel evolution
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
The development of different organisms along similar evolutionary paths due to similar selection pressures acting on them.
shoot differentiation
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
The development of growing points, leaf primordia and finally shoots from a shoot tip, axial bud, or even a callus surface.
speciation
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
The development of one or more species from an existing species.
organized growth
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
The development under tissue culture conditions of organized explants (meristem tips or shoot tips, floral buds or organ primordia).
morphogenesis
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
The development, through growth and differentiation, of form and structure in an organism.
selection differential (S)
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
The difference between the mean of the individuals selected to be parents and the mean of the overall population.
