Genetic engineering

The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Contributors in Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering

photophosphorylation

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The formation of ATP from ADP and inorganic phosphate using light energy in photosynthesis.

maturation

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The formation of gametes or spores.

sympatric speciation

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The formation of new species by populations that inhabit the same or overlapping geographic regions.

nodulation

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The formation of nodules by symbiotic bacteria on the roots of plants.

transformation frequency

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The fraction of a cell population that takes up foreign DNA; expressed as the number of transformed cells divided by the total number of cells in a population.

Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The frequencies of genotypes at a locus resulting from random mating at that locus; for two alleles, A 1 and A 2 , with respective frequencies p and q , the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium ...

karyogamy

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The fusion of nuclei or nuclear material that occurs during sexual reproduction.
