Fallas

The Fallas is the festivals of Valencia (Spain), although the term Fallas refers also to the monuments created during the celebration and which are burned. These monuments are also called Ninots (puppets or dolls in Valencian).

Each neighborhood in Valencia has its own Casal faller or Comissió Fallera (Falla Commission), which is in charge of producing a construction to be burned. The Fallas are made of paper-mâché, cardboard, wood and wax, an inside they have firecrackers. The Falla is always a satire of any issue, and the best one is not burned, instead it is kept in the Valencia's Fallas museum. The night of the 19th of March which is the last day of the festival, all the Fallas are burnt. This is called La Cremà.
