Frindle

A made up word meaning pen from a book called Frindle written for children. Frindle is based on a 1996 children's novel written by American author Andrew Clements and illustrated by Brian Selznick. Clements described the idea as having come to him in the form of the thought, "What would happen if a kid started using a new word, and other kids really liked it, but his teacher didn't?"It doesn't take long for the word to take root and soon the excitement spreads well beyond his school and town. This quirky imaginative tale about creative thought and the power of words will have readers inventing their own words. Brian Selznick's black-and-white illustrations enhance the humor in this unforgettable story.
