Joice Mujuru

Joice Mujuru was Vice President of Zimbabwe, a country in Southern Africa. She served under President Robert Mugabe from 2004 to 2014. She is a member of the Zanu PF political party. Her husband, Solomon Mujuru, was head of the army. Joice was active in Zimbabwe’s liberation movement in the sixties and seventies. Her involvement in the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army (ZANLA) forces earned her the nickname: “Teurai Ropa” or ‘spill blood.’ After independence was achieved, Joice served as the Minister of Community Development and Women’s Affairs in Mugabe’s cabinet, and since then, she has continued to be an important member of his administration.
