Kim Jong-un

Kim Jong-un (January 8, 1983-) is the leader of North Korea, a nuclear power country with the world's fourth-largest military. He is the third and youngest son of deceased North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. Much of his background was unknown to the outside world until he became the leader of North Korea on December 17th, 2011.

Kim Jong-un won his father's blessing as the official successor when his eldest half-brother, Kim Jong-nam, fell out of favor as a result of his failed attempt to visit Japan's Disneyland using a fake passport in 2001.

He first appeared in public at the end of the Korean Workers' Party conference in September 2010. During the same conference, he was named vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and appointed to the Central Committee of the Workers' Party.

Kim Jong-un attended the English-language International School of Bern, Switzerland and enjoying playing basketball and watching kongfu movies.
