Teach For America

An American non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating educational inequity by recruiting recent college graduates and professionals to teach in low-income communities in the U.S. for at least two years. The organization was founded by Wendy Kopp in 1989 and headquartered in New York, NY.

Teach For America originally served 6 regions. As of the 2013-13 school year, it is active in 46 regions. The acceptance rate ranges from 10-15%. As of 2011, more than 7,000 of its 24,000 alumni are still teaching and about 64% of its alumni were working or studying in education full-time.
