Two mounted officials who control the game from the field. They are each responsible for one half of the field. If a foul is committed either or both of the umpires can blow a whistle and this will stop play. The umpires will then confer and must agree on the penalty to be imposed. If they disagree, the referee, or third man, located on the sidelines will decide. Also known as "umpire".
