A situation in which the value of financial institutions or assets drops rapidly. A financial crisis is often associated with a panic or a run on the banks, in which investors sell off assets or withdraw money from savings accounts with the expectation that the value of those assets will drop if they remain at a financial institution.

The Great Depression

An economic recession that began on October 29, 1929, following the crash of the U.S. stock market. The Great Depression originated in the United States, but quickly spread to Europe and the rest of the world. Lasting nearly a decade, the Depression caused massive levels of poverty, hunger, unemployment and political unrest.

Une récession économique qui a commencé le 29 octobre 1929, suite à l'écrasement de la bourse américaine. La grande dépression étaient originaires des États-Unis, mais s'est rapidement répandue en Europe et le reste du monde. Une durée de près d'une décennie, la dépression causée des niveaux massifs de la pauvreté, la faim, le chômage et les troubles politiques.
