Possibly the most popular of all billiard games, eight ball is played on a pool table with six pockets. It is played with 16 balls: white, or the cue ball, seven striped and seven solid-colored balls, and the black 8 ball. After the break shot, the players are assigned either of the two groups of balls, the objective of the game being to pocket the 8 ball after all of the balls from the player's assigned group have been cleared from the table.
