Boxing

Terms of or relating to a sport in which two opponents engage in hand to hand combat within a defined boundary. A referee manages the match in order to ensure rules are not broken and to declare a winner if a player is not knocked unconscious.

The floor of the ring. A fight announcer might say "and he has hit the canvas" meaning the fighter has been knocked down.

caution

This is a warning given by the referee to a boxer. Usually they are given for minor infractions of the rules, however, after three cautions, a warning is given.

clinch

Sports; Boxing

A clinch is when the boxers are holding or leaning on each other and not boxing. The referee will order them to break, if this goes on too long.
