Plastic injection molding
Plastic injection molding is the primary process for manufacturing plastic parts used in consumer goods such as computer keyboards, monitors, bottle caps, cups and solid plastic articles. Plastic is known to be a very versatile and economical material that is used in many applications. Injection molding involves taking plastic in the form of pellets or granules and heating this material until a melt is obtained. Then the melt is forced into a split-die chamber/mold where it is allowed to "cool" into the desired shape. The mold is then opened and the part is ejected, at which time the cycle is repeated.

Plastic injection molding
co-injection
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Simultaneous or near simultaneous injection of multiple materials.
vented barrel
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Special barrel unit with a vent port over the compression section of the screw to permit escape of gases prior to injecting melt into mold. Often used when molding moisture-sensitive resins.
strings
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Strings of material due to poor gate cut off. See pulled gate.
conditioning
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Subjecting a material to standard environmental and/or a non-standard stress state prior to testing or use.
solvents
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Substances with the ability to dissolve other substances.
closed-loop control
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
System for monitoring and automatically adjusting injection molding process conditions such as temperature, pressure and time. The automatic changes keep part production within preset tolerances.
pellets
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Tablets or granules of uniform size, consisting of resins or mixtures of resins with compounding additives which have been prepared for molding operations by extrusion and chopping into short ...
