Plastic injection molding
Plastic injection molding is the primary process for manufacturing plastic parts used in consumer goods such as computer keyboards, monitors, bottle caps, cups and solid plastic articles. Plastic is known to be a very versatile and economical material that is used in many applications. Injection molding involves taking plastic in the form of pellets or granules and heating this material until a melt is obtained. Then the melt is forced into a split-die chamber/mold where it is allowed to "cool" into the desired shape. The mold is then opened and the part is ejected, at which time the cycle is repeated.

Plastic injection molding
filler
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A relatively inert substance added to a plastic compound to reduce its cost and/or to improve physical properties, particularly hardness, stiffness and impact strength.
monomer
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A relatively simple molecular structure, usually containing carbon and of low molecular weight, which can react to form a polymer by combination with itself or with other molecules and energy.
insert
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
a removable part of the mold imparting increased resistance to wear, heat transferability, or changeable part shape to that area of the mold.
ejection pin marks
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A residual mark on the part caused by the profile of the ejection pin.
binder
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A resin or other material used to hold particles together. The binder is the continuous phase in a reinforced plastic, which provides mechanical strength or ensures uniform consistency, ...
pinpoint gate
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A restricted gate of 0.030 in or less in diameter, this gate is common on hot-runner molds.
nest plate
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A retainer plate in the mold with a depressed area for cavity blocks.
