Resistors

bias resistor

Electronic components; Resistors

A resistor used to bias a circuit. A resistor used to apply a DC bias or reference voltage. Bias resistors are changing depending on the actual transistor used in this example schematic.

3-terminal resistor network

Electronic components; Resistors

Aν intermediate-hole or surface mount package that normally holds a voltage divice.. However it may hold another device, as in two resistors shown with another one in parallel with both holes.

maximum working voltage

Electronic components; Resistors

The maximum voltage stress (dc or rms ac) that may be applied to the resistor. Also refer to voltage rating. Note the AC voltage is assumed to be a 60Hz sine wave unless otherwise stated.

stability

Electronic components; Resistors

The overall ability of a resistor to maintain its initial resistance value over extended periods of time when subjected to any combination of environmental conditions and electrical stresses.

melf

Electronic components; Resistors

Metal electrode leadless face. A cylindrical surface mount package used by some types of resistors. Refer to the diagram below. Note there are a number of different shape variations possible.

varistor

Electronic components; Resistors

A resistor that changes value with applied voltage. A varistor may also be called a voltage dependent resistor (VDR). Varistors will have a negative voltage coefficient.

damping resistor

Electronic components; Resistors

Low value resistors used in series with the line (output of an IC) to damp out line reflections. Low value resistors to slow the rise time of an output to reduce signal reflections on the line.
