A doughnut is made from a sweet yeast dough it can be either fried or baked. The classic doughnut is fried, filled with strawberry jam and rolled in granulated sugar but there are many variations around the world with some containing fruit and in different shapes. In Belguim and the Netherlands a doughnut called Oliebollen is made which are traditionally served on New Years Eve. Churros are made in Spain and are piped and fried they are served with coffee or chocolate while in the USA they make a bar doughnut which is has a Maple glaze with bacon pieces they can also be filled with cream.
Una ciambella e' fatta da un impasto di lievito dolce e puo' essere sia fritta che al forno. La ciambella classica e' fritta, ripiena di marmellata alle fragole e rotolata in zucchero granulato ma ci sono diverse varianti nel mondo, alcune contenenti frutta ed in diverse forme. In Belgio e nei Paesi Bassi e' diffusa un tipo di ciambella chiamata Oliebollen, tradizionalmente servita la notte di Capodanno. In Spagna vengono fatti i churros, di forma allungata, fritti e serviti con caffe' o cioccolata. Mentre negli USA e' prodotta una ciambella allungata con una glassa all'acero e pezzi di bacon, puo' anche essere ripiena di crema.
