The Naro-1 is the first south korean orbital launch vehicle, which made its maiden flight on 25 August 2009. Built by KARI, the national space agency of South Korea, and Korean Air, with the first stage provided by Khrunichev, which is mostly identical to the URM-1 first stage of the Angara rocket, but using a downrated RD-151 instead of the RD-191 engine. The second stage is a small solid fuel kick motor with 3-axis control, developed by the Koreans. It was twice launched before from the country's new spaceport, the Naro Space Center, which also gave it its new name, but both launches were unsuccessful.

In Jan. 30th 2013 4AM Naro-3 successfully launched its space rocket in its third attempt to put a satellite into space, from the Naro Space Center.
