The North American P-51 Mustang was the cream of the American fighter crop concerning World War 2. The Mustang was renowned for its sleek, fast and powerful design. Like many other North American fighters it was a multiple machine gun warring machine. Armed with six 50 caliber machine guns (3 in each wing) providing the P-51 with the necessary firepower to contend with anything. The P-51 was a marvel in the air, however the incredible part of the designing of the P-51 is how quickly it made it into service. The P-51 made it from drawing board to the skies in just 117 days. The P-51 was the cream of the crop during world war 2 and continued with a post war career, being deployed during the Korean War.
