Titan
A supercomputer developed by Cray Inc. at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. It is an upgrade of the organizations former supercomputer, Jaguar, that started in October 2011. The project was completed in October 2012 and will begin operations early 2013. It has a theoretical processing limit of 27 petaFLOPS, performing at 17.59 petaFLOPS in initial testing runs, making it the fastest computer as of January 1st 2013, beating Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Blue Gene computer by roughly one petaFLOP. Any computing project is free to apply for time on Titan, however projects will be filtered based on importance with the final decision on time allocation being delivered by the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility.
