call of duty

Call of Duty is the name of a series of incredibly popular First Person Shooter games developed by Activision and available for consoles and PC. The latest installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops, had the highest grossing weekend of any entertainment product in history, generating $650million in revenue in its first five days.

There are currently 14 games in the series with the next installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, announced to launch in the holiday season of 2011.

The series is currently released on a yearly schedule. To achieve this relatively rapid pace of development, the titles are actually produced by a number of studios who will work on a game for several years and only release it when they are ready.
