redundancy
When something is redundant or not needed. For example, secular ethics attempts to explain right and wrong without appealing to controversial religious entities—those entities would then be redundant to the explanation. This could be seen as an epistemic virtue of practical importance. It 60 could be said that we should often hedge our bets by not having moral beliefs that depend on controversial entities that might not exist. Sometimes redundancy might help give us a reason to reject entities.
