seawater fuel

Finding a solution to use seawater as a fuel to power everything from ships and planes to automobiles has intrigued scientists around the world for decades. This is why the recent development of a liquid hydrocarbon fuel using seawater has been hailed as "a game-changer" for the global energy market because it would create an infinite supply of energy and eventually allow the world to get away from the dependence on oil altogether.

For the first time, scientists are able to develop a technology to extract carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas from seawater simultaneously. A catalytic converter is then used to transform CO2 and hydrogen gas into a fuel by a gas-to-liquids process. Now that a solution has been proven to work, the next step is to produce it in industrial quantities by improving the amount of CO2 and hydrogen captured from the same unit volume of seawater.
