Obinna Metu

The fastest sprinter in Nigeria who specializes in the 100 meters. Metu has worked with Ethiopian double Olympic gold medalist Haile Gebrselassie and Jamaican six-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt. He took the title of Nigeria's fastest man when he defeated his predecessor, Olusoji Fasuba, at the national Olympic trials in 2008.

Metu won a bronze medal in the 200 meters and a gold medal in the 4x100 meter relay race at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algeria. In 2011, he won the bronze metal in the 100 meters at the All-Africa Games in Mozambique. In 2012, Metu won a silver medal in the 4x100 meter relay at the African Championships in Athletics.

In the 2008 Olympics, he competed at the 100 meters sprint and place second in his heat with a time of 10.34 seconds and sixth in the next round with a time of 10.29 seconds. In the 200 meters, he placed first in his heat with a time of 20.63 seconds and sixth in the second round with a time of 20.65 seconds. Metu also competed in the 4x100 meter relay but his team was disqualified because of a mistake in the baton exchange.
