The Walking Dead
Modeled after the popular AMC television series by the same name, “The Walking Dead” is a haunted maze at Universal Studios’ annual theme event: Halloween Horror Nights. The Walking Dead
Follows the experience of a small band of survivors as they flee a prison overrun by flesh-eating zombies and embark on a harrowing journey to an elusive sanctuary known as Terminus. The maze features the ultimate zombie apocalypse in which eerily authentic, elaborately designed, movie-quality sets are used to reproduce some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the hit TV show. Mobs of undead walkers bring to "life" the vicious, hungry, zombies from the show. The maze also uses the same FX molds and sound effects as the ones used in "The Walking Dead" TV show.
The adventure starts outside at the entrance to the hospital where Rick wakes up in the series' pilot, with a bicycle leaning up against the wall as a nod to Bicycle Girl. Once inside the hospital, visitors are greeted with the "Don't open, dead inside" doors, which are made to look like walkers are forcing their way through.
Upon exiting the hospital, visitors find themselves in the department store where Rick leaves Merle in the second episode of "The Walking Dead." They can even head up to the rooftop where Merle was chained. From there, visitors pass some elaborate zombie set ups (like a zombie attacking another person who is dangling from a second story) to the sheriff's office. On the opposite side of the station is a horde of zombies trying to break through a fence who, though animatronic, look very intimidating during a nighttime walk through the maze. After that, fans will stumble across Dale's RV after its been overrun by walkers. Scharacters scattered throughout the maze jump out to scare visitors from all directions. The final stop is Hershel's barn. But in this maze which looks like it's burning down with the walkers trapped inside.
