Triathlon

A triathlon is a athletic competition involving three continuous races of different disciplines with each leg of the race being a different sport. Triathlons can be competed in individually or as part of a relay team where each member competes in a different leg. The most common athletic disciplines in a triathlon are swimming, cycling and running.

This is a warning card given out by a race official for a violation, which occurs during the running or cycling leg of the triathlon.

red card

If a competitor receives a Red Card he /she is disqualified from the race. A Red Card would be issued in the running or cycling portions of the race for dangerous or repeat violation of the rules.

buoys

Buoys are markers that float in the water and mark the course every 55 yards (50 meters).

There are usually eight timekeepers in a triathlon and their main duty is to time all of the competitors and record the time they finish the race in.

The stand that holds bicycles in place in the transition area so a competitor can quickly get on his / her bike.
