Plastic injection molding
Plastic injection molding is the primary process for manufacturing plastic parts used in consumer goods such as computer keyboards, monitors, bottle caps, cups and solid plastic articles. Plastic is known to be a very versatile and economical material that is used in many applications. Injection molding involves taking plastic in the form of pellets or granules and heating this material until a melt is obtained. Then the melt is forced into a split-die chamber/mold where it is allowed to "cool" into the desired shape. The mold is then opened and the part is ejected, at which time the cycle is repeated.

Plastic injection molding
plastic
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A material that contains as an essential ingredient one or more organic polymeric substances of large molecular weight, is solid in its finished state, and, at some stage in its manufacture or ...
coupling agents
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A material that is used to form a chemical bridge between the resin and an additive such as glass fiber or mineral fiber. By acting as an interface, bonding is enhanced.
brittle temperature
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A measure for judging the relative merits of materials for low temperature flexing or impact - i.e., the temperature at which materials rupture by impact under specified conditions.
izod impact strength
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A measure of impact strength determined by the difference in energy of a swinging pendulum before and after it breaks a notched specimen held vertically as a cantilever beam.
yellowness index
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A measure of the color on the yellow scale.
melt flow rate
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A measure of the molten viscosity of a polymer determined by the weight of polymer extruded through an orifice under specified conditions of pressure and temperature. Particular conditions are ...
rockwell hardness
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
A measure of the surface hardness of a material. A value derived from the increase in depth of an impression as the load of a steel indenter is increased from a fixed minimum value to a higher value ...
