Triathlon

A triathlon is a athletic competition involving three continuous races of different disciplines with each leg of the race being a different sport. Triathlons can be competed in individually or as part of a relay team where each member competes in a different leg. The most common athletic disciplines in a triathlon are swimming, cycling and running.

The Long Course Triathlon consists of a 2.5-kilometer (1.55 mile) swim, an 80-kilometer (49.7 mile) bike ride, followed by a 20-kilometer (12.4 mile) run. This takes about 5 hours to complete

Marshals are officials who in the cycling and running portion of the triathlon direct the competitors and help to keep them on the correct course.
