Amy Winehouse
(1983-2011) Amy was an English singer and songwriter of R&B, soul and jazz known for her powerful deep contralto vocals and for her characteristic look inspired in the 60s girl groups. She was also usually in the tabloids because of her serious problems with alcohol and drugs. Despite that, she became the first British woman in winning five Grammy Awards.
Winehouse was found dead on 23 July 2011, at her home in London. Police has said that the cause of her death is "unexplained" and that the death was "non-suspicious". Her early death left us just two albums of the artist: Frank and the second one Back to Black which in August 2011 became the UK's bestselling album of the 21st century.
The money raised from Amy's final recording, a duet entitled "Body and Soul" with Tony Bennett will go to The Amy Winehouse Foundation to support charitable activities in both the UK and abroad that provide help, support or care for young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction.
