(1960- ) José Antonio Domínguez Banderas is a Spanish actor, director, producer and singer well known for his role as the Zorro in the film The Mask of Zorro. He started acting at the age of 19 in several theaters. In 1982 he made his film debut in Labyrinth of Passion. A couple of films later, in 1988 he became internationally well known thanks to the film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and some years later with Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! Madonna helped him being recognized in U.S.A when she said in his documentary film Madonna: Truth or Dare that she tried to seduce him even knowing that he was married.

Among his most famous films as an actor are Philadelphia, Interview with the Vampire, Desperado, Assassins, The Mask of Zorro, Spy Kid and Original Sin. In 2003 he appeared in the musical Nine on Broadway, and he is the voice of the Puss in Boots character of Shrek’s film. He has also directed several films; one of the most famous is Summer Rain. In 2011 he made the film The Skin I Live In, a terror thriller directed by Pedro Almodovar, the director who is said helped him to success as an actor. The actor has been a spokesman of the company Puig for over ten years.

He is married since 1996 to the American actress Melanie Griffith and they have a daughter together.
