Burger King

Burger King is a global fast food chain founded in 1953 and headquartered in Florida, US. In 1955 the franshise restaurant chain called Insta-Burger King was aquired by its two franshisees and renamed Burger King.

Burger King's Whopper, a large hamburger with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, became Burger King's signatute item under the new ownership. The company continued experimenting with the menu and regionalizing food items.

In 2009 there were more than 12,000 restaurants operating in 73 countries, serving about 11 million customers every day. In September 2010 it was sold to the private equity firm 3G Capital.
