CCTV Tower

A daring skyscraper in the heart of Beijing's Central Business District (CBD) and serves as headquarters for China Central Television (CCTV). Designed by Rem Koolhaas of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, the CCTV Tower is widely considered one of the greatest architectural wonders of the 21st century. Its enormous two 50-story legs, which taper as they rise to slightly different height, are joined at the top by a 13-story bridge whose angled form defies gravity and juts out precariously over a plaza.

Groundbreaking of the CCTV Tower took place on June 1, 2004 and the building's facade was completed in January 1, 2008. Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren of OMA were the architects in charge for the building, while Arup provided the complex engineering design.
