9th place is acquired by Chinese website “Taobao.com”. It provides online shopping like eBay and Amazon and it is operated in China by Alibaba Group.

Alibaba Group was founded in May 10,2003. Taobao Marketplace facilitates consumer – to – consumer (C2C) retail by providing a platform for small businesses and each professonals. Taobao is around 760 million product listings as of March 2013.

The joint gross merchandise volume (GMV) of Taobao Marketplace and Tmall.com exceeded 1 trillion yuan for the year ended March 31, 2013. Taobao.com gives facilities to its user to sell their product in a fixed price or Auction. Auction make up a small percentage of transaction. But The most of the products are new merchandise sold at fixed prices.
