killer whales

Killer whales (orcas) are mammals of the family of the dolphins. They live in all the oceans and feed of different mammals, birds, sharks…etc. Killer whales have a very characteristic appearance: they have black backs and white chest and flanks, and also they have a white patch around the eyes. Killer whale’s head become smaller with the age. The males’ average length is between 6 to 8 m and their weight is more than 6tons, but females are smaller, and their lifespan is around 50 years, while males’ is 29 years. Killer whales have really complex societies (that’s one of the motives for no keeping them in captivity as they become aggressive and stressed being a part of their mates). They communicate through three types of sounds: clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls.
