A startup ecosystem describes the interaction between people, startups and organizations, which develops a culture and support systems that provide opportunities for new startups to emerge and thrive.

The organizations forming startup ecosystems can range from universities, funding bodies (such as incubators or accelerators) or research organizations to service providers (legal, financial or other ) and large corporations.

Each component of such an ecosystem is usually able to provide specific support at different stages of the startup life-cycle.
