Gruba metoda procjene jesu li dionice jeftine ili skupe; omjer tržišne cijene dionice i zarade tvrtke(profita) po dionici. Što je veći omjer cijene/zarade (P/E), to će investitori više kupovati dionice tvrtke u očekivanju da će ostvariti značajnije profite u budućnosti nego danas. Drugim riječima, što je P/E omjer veći, to vlada veći optimizam među investitorima.
