Impoundment
Out of the three main types of hydroelectric power plants, impoundment is the most common. This facility utilises a dam to systematically store and release water to provide enough power to activate the generator and conduct electricity. Water is released to either activate the generator or to maintain an appropriate level of water in the reservoir.
