Genetic engineering

The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Contributors in Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering

actin

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of the two contractile proteins in muscle (the other being myosin). Actin is also found in the microfilaments that form part of the cytoskeleton of all cells.

generative nucleous

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of the two male gametes in the pollen tube of angiosperms.

kappa chain

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of two classes of antibody light chains.

lambda chain

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of two classes of antibody light chains. cf kappa chain.

isotope

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of two or more forms of an element that have the same number of protons (atomic number) but differing numbers of neutrons (mass numbers). Radioactive isotopes are commonly used to make DNA probes ...

aminoacyl site

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of two sites on ribosomes to which the incoming aminoacyl tRNA binds.

a-site

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

One of two sites on ribosomes to which the incoming aminoacyl tRNA binds.
