Plastic injection molding
Plastic injection molding is the primary process for manufacturing plastic parts used in consumer goods such as computer keyboards, monitors, bottle caps, cups and solid plastic articles. Plastic is known to be a very versatile and economical material that is used in many applications. Injection molding involves taking plastic in the form of pellets or granules and heating this material until a melt is obtained. Then the melt is forced into a split-die chamber/mold where it is allowed to "cool" into the desired shape. The mold is then opened and the part is ejected, at which time the cycle is repeated.

Plastic injection molding
artificially balanced runner system
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
balancing a runner system by adjusting the pressure drop of a long large diameter runner against a short small diameter runner. Since pressure drop over the small diameter runner will be much more ...
injection blow molding
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Blow molding process by which the plastic parison to be blown is formed by injection molding.
bulk-molding compounds (BMC)
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Bulk-molding compounds are used as a premix in composite manufacturing. A BMC consists of a mixture of resin, reinforcements, inert fillers, and other additives which form a puttylike preformed ...
glass transition
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
change in an amorphous polymer from viscous to hard and relatively brittle.
cooling channels
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Channels located within the body of a mold through which a cooling medium is circulated to control the mold surface temperature.
cycle
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
complete, repeating sequence of operations for injection molding a part.
partially-balanced runner system
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
composed of both naturally and artificially balanced runners.
