Solar power
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.

electrical grid
Energy; Solar power
An integrated system of electricity distribution, usually covering a large area.
tare loss
Energy; Solar power
Loss caused by a charge controller. One minus tare loss, expressed as a percentage, is equal to the controller efficiency.
electricity
Energy; Solar power
Energy resulting from the flow of charge particles, such as electrons or ions.
temperature compensation
Energy; Solar power
A circuit that adjusts the charge controller activation points depending on battery temperature. This feature is recommended if the battery temperature is expected to vary more than ±5°C from ambient ...
electrochemical cell
Energy; Solar power
A device containing two conducting electrodes, one positive and the other negative, made of dissimilar materials (usually metals) that are immersed in a chemical solution (electrolyte) that transmits ...
temperature factors
Energy; Solar power
It is common for three elements in photovoltaic system sizing to have distinct temperature corrections: a factor used to decrease battery capacity at cold temperatures; a factor used to decrease PV ...
