Green Monster

The popular name for left field wall in historic and famous Park Fenway, home of the MLB team, Boston Red Sox. Despite the fact that Green Monster - "Wally" - has become a mascot of sorts (popular with children and on Red Sox memorabilia), the wall itself has a lot of history. Between the white lines on the American League scoreboard there is a Morse code that spells out the initials of the Park's former owners, Thomas A. Yawkey and Jean R. Yawkey. The Green Monster also sports is a useless ladder that is 13' that extends from the ground to the top of the wall. Originally, the ladder spanned to full length of the wall and allowed ground ffor crew members to retrieve homerun balls from above netting. That netting was eventually taken down to expand on left field of seating area; still, ladder exists, and it is the only ladder in fair territory in any MLB stadium. The seats that now cover space where netting once was called "Monster Seats" and are particularly popular among Red Sox fans.
