King Kong Vs. Godzilla

King King vs. Godzilla is a 1962 movie produced by Toho as part of the long running Godzilla franchise. The production of the movie had a checkered history - originally the idea was to have King Kong fight a new monster created by Dr. Frankenstein, but this was changed to be Godzilla at the last moment by Toho, and the Frankenstein idea was retained in the movie "Frankenstein Conquers the World".

In the movie, King Kong is transported to Japan in order to serve as a television spectacle. At the same time, a submarine crashes into the iceberg that had frozen Godzilla in the previous movie, setting him free. The two monsters eventually cross paths and begin to fight.

This film marks the first occasion that both Godzilla and King Kong have appeared in color.

A persistent rumor is that the film has two endings - one where Godzilla wins and another where King Kong wins, assigned to the Japanese and American versions respectively. These rumors are confirmed to be false, in the actual movie the winner is ambiguous.

This was the most commercially successful Godzilla movie ever made, making 350,000,000 JPY at box offices.
