Originally the production of this drink was from local agricultural products cheaper and abundant as wheat, corn, potatoes, sugar cane or a combination of any of these. The process consisted of a simple and rapid filtration ferment these vegetables using a filter-based charcoal, instead of an expensive and lengthy process of distillation. The purified liquid was then reduced without stale (aging itself) to be water drinkable by adding distilled water and then bottled.

The vodka or 'vodka', is the national alcoholic drink of Russia and Poland, where in both countries the "w" is pronounced as a "v". Its meaning is 'little water', a delicate and diminutive form of call water.

Because of this, in Western consumer areas there is a clear preference for vodka from grains and eastern areas to the potato.

Added to this difference in production, there are variants of the beverage as it is drawn Polish Zubrowka adding a variety of grazing maceration with the same name. This makes the drink is of a yellowish hue, and adds bouquet and a bitter taste.

As for the customs to drink, they also differ according to their place of consumption. In the Baltic and Eastern European countries, the drink is taken alone without mixing, pouring into chilled glasses. In Western countries, is used to prepare cocktails.
